Driver Training

Under the health and safety act, you must train all operators of machinery in their safe use. Forklift drivers must hold a certificate of training. Training is normally carried out on site by a visiting instructor examiner.

We can arrange this training, which is normally valid for 3 to 5 years. There is a code of practice available from your local health and safety executive.

Although you can carry out this training yourself, it is wise to use an outside body as in the event of an accident the source of the training may be sought. Your insurance company may also give you information about their requirements for operators.

Please be very careful that you meet all the regulations. If an untrained driver has an accident then he can claim against you.

You are responsible for the safe operation of the machine at all times.

Make sure you have adequate insurance

Tips for forklift safety

Forklift Stability Triangle

Forklifts are unique when it comes to considering stability. Unlike cars which conform to four point stability, forklifts are subject to a stability triangle which is calculated as the area within the forklift underside, created by three lines which join the two front wheels and the centre of the rear axle.
